It Wasn't a Dream!

Are there ever times when you wake up in the morning and you aren't sure if you had a crazy dream the night before or if you actually DID something crazy the night before?
Lately I have been waking up between 3AM-5Am because I am starting to get to that uncomfortable pregnant stage. Well pregnancy also seems to give me weird, vivid dreams, so when I woke up early this morning and the bed was shaking, I didn't think much of it. I just assumed Mike was rolling over and trying to get comfortable. Yet, he wasn't rolling over, and the bed just kept shaking. I thought to myself, I am in an earthquake and then I drifted back off to sleep.
I didn't remember any of this in the morning, until Mike called me from school and asked me if I had woken up around 5 this morning because there had been a 5.5 earthquake! Then it all came back to me! The bed continually shaking, things rattling, my semi-coherent thoughts . . .
Mike felt so left out that he hadn't waken up! I wish I had waken up more! An actual earthquake and I just rolled over and went back to sleep!

Last week mike was able to baptize two boys he has been working with in the scouts. It was great to see him honor his priesthood. I've also included some pictures of what Lydia has been up to. If you can't tell, she loves frosting! It looks like we are going to be moving across town in a month or two, so I started clearing out the bookcase. (I figure if I pack a little at a time, it won't be too bad.) So Mike showed Lydia how to climb into this newly unoccupied space. Thanks for showing her that one sweetheart! And last, but not least, we have been enjoying nice weather, so Lydia has had several rides in her bike trailer. She loves it and jumps right in as soon as we get it assembled. She will sit and read her books and eat her fruit snacks.

Parable of the purple crayon

I've learned this week one of the joys of having a child. I always hear of people embarking on the impossible task of removing permanent marker from couches and walls, trying to salvage their daughter's hair after a wad of gum way to big for anyone's mouth has been stuck in it, or trying to remove kool-aid from a once, nice off-white carpet. Well, this week I had one such moment. I don't know how it happened, but I ended up with half of a purple crayon in my dryer. Needless to say, I was surprised when I opened the dryer to find that purple tye-dye is back in. And the wrapper of the crayon had the audacity to stay perfecting in tact- mocking me as if saying, "Your clothes might not have survived the wash, but I did!"
After consulting Crayola's website I followed their directions to saturate the spots with, of all things, WD-40 and then wash with hot water etc. Some of the spots did come out, but not all.
There is a moral to this story. There will always be more cute little girls clothes to buy, so it's alright if some of them get ruined. I may have less clothes to wear, but that means I can justify shopping. There are plenty of things to worry about, but I choose not to worry about purple spots. Instead, I have applied this to be a valuable lesson.
Sin can be like a little purple crayon. It appears harmless, even good, but if you aren't careful, it can quickly take over and leave you blemished and dirty. We must be careful not to put ourselves in the same hot environment with sin or we might not be able to get out. And yet, we have a cleaning agent named Jesus Christ and if we apply Him quickly and follow His directions, we have the chance to become clean again.

My family were able to come visit last week during Latesha's spring break and before Dad has to get into the fields again. We did a lot of hanging out and just having fun. We went to the children's museum again where Lydia had her picture taken with an "Idaho" spud. Mike also decided he wanted to play in the tunnels with Lydia. (They are like the playplace's at McDonalds) It was a tight fit, but he and Lydia both had great time going down the slide repeated times! I've also included a picture of my family. My little sister isn't so little anymore! Dad went home with a Purdue hat, so I guess he's a boilermaker now!
