What Lydia has been up to

That is a genuine box of "real" Idaho Potato's! I was so excited! I think the UPS man thought I was crazy when he came to my door with this surprise! The bags of potato's here that say they are from Idaho must be the Idaho rejects because they just aren't the same. Thanks Mom and Dad! I think we will have mashed potato's every night!Ok, I'm really sorry this one is sideways. I am still learning all this blogging stuff. We took Lydia to Krispy Kreme this week and got her a sprinkle covered doughnut. She was so diligent in picking off and eating all those delicious sprinkles. The big bite out of it was Mike helping her- go figure.
I came into the kitchen a few days ago to find my tupperware drawer empty of bowls! Now Lydia seems to think that this is the best place to read her "scriptures." (The Gideon Bible)
Nursing Mike back to health after surgery last week. They were watching Sesame Street together, which is Lydia's new favorite thing.
Lydia has discovered the joy of moving around couch cushions. I love how her feet are crossed.

That is about all we have been up to lately. We have spent a lot of time home with Mike, but he goes back to classes tomorrow. For his surgery, he had to have his tendon grafted together with another one and some bones fused with a plate and screw. He was kind of out of it for a few days, but is doing good now. He even sang in the ward choir today where his crutch slipped off a ledge and he went down, hitting the organ and making quite the scene. He blames it all on the Missionary behind him. Wish I had a picture of that one!

Tagged

I've been tagged, so I guess this is what I am supposed to do:

Two Names You Go By: Heather Weather, Honey
Two Things You Are Wearing Right Now: a t-shirt and sweats- the most comfortable clothes I could find.
Two things you Want (or have) in a Relationship: support and laughter
Two of Your Favorite Things to do: Making Lydia laugh and playing basketball
Two things you did last night: Went to enrichment and read a book
Two people you Last Talked To: Mike and Tamri
Two Things You're doing tomorrow: Cooking and game night
Two Longest Car Rides: Danville, Ohio to Moscow Idaho. We drove from Mike's house to his internship after we got married.
Virginia to Idaho Falls for the Mormon American Travel Studies tour after highschool. It took a month on a travel bus.
Two Favorite Holidays: Christmas, 4th of July. I love the 4th for all the family traditions.
Two Favorite Drinks: Homemade rootbeer hands down, and italian soda I guess because nothing else really ranks up there with the rootbeer.
Two Things About Me you may not have known: I love the smell of fresh dirt because it reminds me of potato cellars and many memories of growing up.
I get a thrill out of giving speeches.
Two jobs I have had in my life: The best jobs ever- sno-cone maker and I worked at a homemade chocolate shop in Moscow! Fabulous!
Two Movies I would watch over and over: I'm not a big movie person, but I suppose they would be Elf, and Dances with Wolves. My uncle's neighbor owns the buffalo on Dances with Wolves. His name is Cody. I thought that was so cool and my uncle thought I was goofy because I thought it was so cool.
Two of my favorite foods: Right now it would have to be mashed potato's and boiled eggs. That is only due to my pregnancy. Normally Italian would be included in there somewhere.
Two places I'd rather be right now: With Mike and on a beach! A real beach with warm, white sand and palm trees, and smooth ocean waves. I've never been on a beach like that.

Mike's grand adventure

Mike is a scoutmaster. He has yet to wear his uniform and I have yet to sew on the appropriate patches. Mike himself never advanced very far in scouting because he would rather be playing sports. As a scoutmaster, Mike has now found a way to combine the two. Or, at least he did, until last Saturday. He won't be playing sports for awhile.
Mike went on a campout with the 12 and 13 year olds. He even slept outside without a tent- very brave I thought. I think Mike's favorite part of campouts is playing games with the boys such as kick the can and capture the flag. Well today it was capture the flag. Mike was running through the woods, flag in hand and ten feet from victoriously returning to his side when he hit a log and went down . . . and stayed down. 3 x-rays, one MRI and a cast and crutches later, Mike has ruptured a tendon in his foot and is due for surgery in another week or so. He really does have good spirits about the whole thing and he really does expect his sweet wife to bring all of his food and anything else to him, but he is finding crutches in the winter inconvenient at best.
The worst thing about having a cast is:
1. It is very hard to find pants that will fit over a cast and even harder to take off pants that one was wearing when the cast was put on.
The worst thing about crutches in the winter is:
1. Hobbling in snow and then coming inside to a slick floor where your crutches try flying out from under you!
Well, at least that's what I think the worst part of it is. Maybe it's just sore armpits. Or perhaps the worst part for Mike is knowing that he let his team down when he fell with the flag and lost the game for them! That seems like something Mike would really regret.
